Choose shiny, firm, bright red strawberries with fresh, green leaves; avoid dull or discolored surface and mold. Before storing, removed damaged berries, spread on paper towel and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate, unwashed, for up to 3 days; or wash and freeze. To wash, swish berries in a bowl of cold water to remove sand; pat dry with paper towel; remove stems and caps with fingers or pairing knife.
